Can I get a Forklift Licence after completing the Forklift Training
Forklift training is conducted in two parts (theory and practical). After completing the training, you will be given an opportunity to complete an assessment (both theory and practical). Once you have successfully met the requirements of the assessment, you will be deemed competent to operate a forklift and be presented with a forklift licence.
What is a forklift
A forklift truck (also called a lift truck, a fork truck, or a forklift) is a powered industrial truck used to lift and transport materials. The modern forklift was developed in the 1960s by various companies including the transmission manufacturing company Clark and the hoist company Yale & Towne Manufacturing. The forklift has since become an indispensable piece of equipment in manufacturing and warehousing operations.
To enroll into a forklift training and licensing course, you must be 18 years of age or older and have photo identification.
What will I learn in the forklift training
The forklift training course is designed to give you the skills and knowledge to successful operate an forklift on the job site. While the course has a small level of theory, the main component of the course is to get into the warehouse and operate the machine. The training course covers:
- machine control
- machine positioning
- judging of distance
- load and unloading freight from racking
- forklift safety
You will need to prove you have a good understanding of these skills to successfully pass the assessment.
